Depending upon the healthcare site, phlebotomists may be expected to handle a variety of duties, including specimen handling (urinalysis, fecal facts, etc. in addition to blood specimens) and waived testing (tests that can be run with just a little training). Waived testing is a growing area and familiarity with the methods may give you an important advantage in today's competitive job market!

In case you missed it today in class, there is a pair of gloves in the sharps container! Please refrain from putting trash in the sharps container. (Also, please never, ever, remove anything from a sharps container! Once it's there, it's there to stay forever!)
