RTC community outreach representative Dave Grant came in to show us his fistula (a shunt between an artery and a vein), which was used during 11 years of dialysis! The phlebotomy students used a finger cot to touch the site where the artery was just below the surface of the skin where they could feel a pulse known as a "thrill." The thrill seemed to "buzz" constantly. Dave had a transplant 13 months ago, and is now a new man with a new lease on life!
Thanks for sharing, Dave!
